Steve first became interested in agriculture in his teens while working cattle, baling hay, and working at an auction barn. He then became a member of the J. Frank Dobie FFA chapter. One of his first leadership roles was president of the Dobie FFA chapter. He became involved with Pasadena Livestock Show & Rodeo in 1973 as an exhibitor. Steve has not missed the show since that time.
Steve's first committee job was on the Livestock Committee in 1979. He has been involved in the Scholarship, School Art, Membership Picnic, Horse Show, Locks, Safety, and Security committees. Steve has also served as Livestock Chairman, Rodeo Chairman, and Vice President.
Steve's career has been close to education as a longtime employee of Pasadena Independent School District. In addition to his work with the Pasadena Rodeo, Steve is a member of the San Jacinto Day Foundation. He is supported by his wife Julie and daughters Rachel and Gina.
Steve feels one of the best ways to give back to community is by supporting FFA. He feels FFA not only prepares students for their careers, it also teaches valuable life lessons.
